Why diesel, gas, coal power plants are not environmental friendly?
Dude, common sense lar! Burning these fossil fuels and coals, are actually burning the earth resources that we dig out from the earth itself. The amount of petroleum and coal are getting lesser due to human keep on digging them without concern for the future. If keep on digging these earth resources without proper control, I believe that these resources will not going to be left much for the next generations.
As you know, burning fossil fuels and coals do produce a lot of carbon and released to the atmosphere. It is actually directly harming the environment. And after I keep mentioned about the greenhouse effect, I believe you already know that the more carbon dioxide are released to the atmosphere, the more it will contribute to the greenhouse effects, and global warming.
Why hydroelectric power plants are not environmental friendly?
A lot people thinks that hydroelectric power plants are environmental friendly, because it will not emitting any carbons to the atmosphere. About the carbon emission part, it is correct. But a lot people do not realize that to build a dam for a hydroelectric plant, a huge part of lands will be used up and flooded up in order to collect large amount of waters to supply water pressure to move the turbine.
In other words, a lot of wild life will be loosing their habitats, a lot of trees will be flooded. Hence it will going to destroy a huge part of those ancient forest.
An example, the Bakun Hydroelectric Dam. I will flooding up 695 square km just to build that dam alone. You can see, how many wild life will lost their habitats and how many ancient forest will be destroyed. What worse, for this Bakun Dam, even a lot of “kampung orang asli” are destroyed for this Bakun project.
So building a hydroelectric dam, will not only destroying wild life habitats, it will be destroying human’s home as well. And if you do realize, a lot trees will also be flooded under the water and the production of natural oxygen will be greatly reduces due to trees are actually the major supplier of oxygen to all living beings in this planet.
