Then, what is the correct way to do to create a greener earth?
Here are some of the point I had mentioned when I gave a talk in Segi College few years back. Although the talk have not much students attended, but I am happy that those students who attended the talk, do understand that it is important to understand what should we do to actually reduce pollution and reduce the greenhouse effect.
Types of power sources that we should use to reduce the consumption of the earth resources.
Solar Plants
Although the power output from solar plans are much lower compare to what traditional power plants generated, but generating power using solar panels, can actually reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, as it will only need the sun light to produce electric. Using this type of power source, we can actually generating electric without emitting carbons into the atmosphere.
Some people might argue that to have the equivalent out put of power as traditional power plant, a larger space will going to be used. Well, TNB do have a plan where it does not need to chop down the jungle to built a solar power plant, instead, the solar panels can be installed on the roof houses and this will eventually eliminate the needs of sacrifice lands to build the power plant. In other word, the city itself, can be the solar power plant itself.
Of course, the house owners who have their house roof to install the solar panel and supply power to the power grid, will get certain amount of payment, which house owners, will be consider as independent power providers.
Wind Generators
Wind generators power plants are quite common in oversea. It is able to produce higher power output than solar power as it uses wind to turn the turbines to generate powers. Unlike what TNB has planned for solar power, wind generated power do in fact using some space for the wind turbines.
But since we have unlimited source of winds along the east coast and west coast, why not we take this advantage and build wind generated power plants and eliminate the needs of using fossil fuels? The source for generating the powers is already there, why wasting it while it is a power source which will not going to emitting any amount of carbon into the atmosphere.
Well, there are some ideas on building the wind power plant off shore, which means building it on the sea instead of building it on the land. I think it is a great idea as the wind on the sea it self is strong enough to spin up those big wind turbine, plus no land will be sacrifice if the wind power farms are built on the sea.
