Actually Malaysia day suppose to be declare as holiday since long time ago!
But dunno why, the government only started to declare Malaysia Day as holiday recently.
Malaysia Day is the real day that our country, Malaysia is formed, not 31st August.
31 August is the day where Malaya formed, which I consider it as the past dynasty before our country was formed.
Celebrating 31st August as our Independent day is correct, coz after the land is freed, only we able to build up a new nation. But if celebrating it as the day our country is formed, it is wrong, coz our country is formed at 16th September 1963. So Malaysia is not 52 years old, is 46 years old.
Of course, we must still celebrate 31st August as Malaya (The Current Peninsular Of Malaysia), North Borneo (Sabah & Sarawak) and ahemm, The Kiasu Land get our freedom from the British colony. And yes, it is our independence day where we are no longer colonized by other people.
A national ceremony celebrates the formation of the Federation of Malaysia in 1963 in Singapore.
Now has become “Majulah Singapura” lol
But still, 16th September is much more important as it is the day our country, Malaysia is formed by merging North Borneo (Sabah & Sarawak), Malaya (The Current Peninsular Of Malaysia), and also Singapore. Although Singapore has say bye bye to us, but still, the country is still known as Malaysia. So this is the day we should really celebrating the birth of our country, Malaysia!
Since I was in high school, I really hope that Malaysia Day will be declared as holiday. I am very sad that we never even have a chance to celebrate Malaysia Day officially. Our country rulers have never think of the day our country was formed until this year…. Another main reason why I sad is because we have less 1 holiday, which I always wish for since I was study last time, coz able to sleep until more late is actually 1 of the way to celebrate our independence day and country forming day, hehehehehe
Although the political opposition party has planned 16th September as public holiday (By Anwar) in their ruling states last year, but still I think it is not enough, coz this will not able to united all Malaysians as not all Malaysian is celebrating it together. Now, this day has become a public holiday officially, I feel that Malaysian is now having a common national day now. Before this, we are just have an opportunity to celebrate the forming day of “Persekutuan Tanah Melayu” where it is not related to Sabah & Sarawak. Now, the true day for Malaysian is an official celebration day, I hope that the government will celebrate it until even more grand than 31st August, this will let Sabah & Sarawak people able to feel that they are part of our country.
Malaysia’s Motto is “Bersekutu Bertambah Mutu”.
Without petroleum and timber from Sabah & Sarawak, how can we able to archive our country development so fast by just depends on petroleum from Terenganu only, right?
So, lets celebrate this day with joy and with more patriotic spirit!

previously, Sabah and Sarawak are the underdog state..
we can have lrt, klia, klcc, sepang in peninsular but we don’t even have proper road in S & S
we do celebrate Msia Day previously but only limited to government… if you notice, Msia flag will be up from 31 Aug till 16 Sept in all goverment institutions.. dats how we celebrated it..
And now… thanks for the PR for bringing up this issue..
Najib took their idea in making this a reality..
in addition, the BN want to win the heart of S & S people as they hold majority parliamentary seats..

yeah, there should be more development at Kuching & Kota Kinabalu.
honestly, the oppositions have more better idea. but always get condemn by the ruling side.
Najib is very wise to adopt PR’s idea and win the heart of the citizen.
Anyway, announcing Malaysia Day as the official national day is the best way to united east & west Malaysia…
