Malaysia as An International Sports Destination: Kalumpang Rainforest Jungle Run

Kalumpang Rainforest Jungle Run is a 18km run held annually in Kalumpang and is part of an initiative done in conjunction of #DekatJe campaign by Tourism Malaysia to elevate Malaysia as a internationally preferred sports tourism destination.

Kalumpang Rainforest Jungle Run 2015 is jointly organized by Green Leaf Events and Marketing Services, Kalumpang Resorts and Training Centre, Majlis Daerah Hulu Selangor and sponsored by Sneak Peak Products, Running Malaysia and last but not least, supported by Tourism Malaysia.

The run is open to not just Malaysians but international runners too and was split to a couple of categories; Men Open, Women Open, Senior and Boys Junior and Girls Junior.

Although my family and I did not participated in the run, but we were invited to explore Kalumpang by Tourism Malaysia Selangor and one of our stop that weekend is Kalumpang Rainforest Jungle Run 2015.

International participants are spotted too and surprisingly there is a lot of them. Apparently sports is a huge thing for them and Malaysia has become a popular sports destination for them.

Prize giving was done at approximately 1pm before the crowd was dispersed and we were then brought to Kalumpang Resort and Training Centre for a night stay.

I thought ‘Kalumpang’ somewhere near East Malaysia. ish ish…nearby only. Look like this is a nice run with fresh air to breathe in.

Its good that Tourism Malaysia had create awareness of the Kalumpang Rainforest not only to local but international runners.

Always nice to see the initiatives to cultivate the healthier lifestyle for the public but what i worry also when it comes to this kind of run, that the jungle homes of the animals are destroyed by people stomping all over the plants in their bid to win the race. 🙁
